Scan2Print

With Scan2Print, the digital model becomes reality: precise 3D scanning captures complex geometries—whether entire yachts or individual components—which can then be transferred into CAD models.

The outer hull, contours, and decks are measured using a combination of scanning methods and made available as a digital replica.

Based on this data, a structured reverse engineering workflow is applied, laying the foundation for 3D printing. From scanning to model prep and generating the print file—all steps are seamlessly coordinated.

The result: high-precision components created directly from digital models—for prototyping, design studies, or functional ship elements. Efficient, repeatable, and dimensionally accurate.

SOS Solution:

  1. 3D scanning of the yacht (outer hull, contours, decks) using combined methods.
  2. Derivation of a scaled model via reverse engineering.
  3. Creation of the 3D print program.
  4. 3D printing of the final part.

Before a planned conversion or refit, a highly detailed 3D printed yacht model can be created that already includes all proposed modifications. This allows owners, designers, and shipyards to get a realistic preview of design changes before work begins.

For even greater impact, an additional model of the existing yacht can be printed. This makes it possible to present a clear before-and-after comparison — whether showcasing structural modifications, interior layout updates, or the application of a new yacht color scheme. The result is a tangible, hands-on visualization that helps reduce uncertainty and supports confident decision-making in every yacht refit project.
